Elaine Jones was born in Elgin in the northeast of Scotland and now lives in the beautiful county of Gloucestershire in the southwest of England. Art has been a passion ever since she can remember and she has always enjoyed a wide variety of creative hobbies. She is a member of the Wallsworth Art Group and has been Artist in Residence at Nature in Art Museum and Art Gallery at Twigworth in Gloucester where she also teaches Encaustic Art Workshops.
As well as using more traditional media such as acrylics, watercolour, and mixed media, Elaine enjoys using the computer to design original Digital Art in prismatic colours. Probably Elaine's favourite pastime is working with hot, coloured beeswax to produce original Fantasy and Abstract Encaustic Art. She loves the vibrancy of the colours and wonderful three-dimensional textures that can be achieved and each Encaustic Wax painting is totally unique and can never be repeated.
The way that colour can affect our moods fascinates Elaine and this, together with her interest in Reiki Healing, has led her to create unique Intuitive Paintings for people. These may be used as an aid for Meditation, Healing, Contemplation or Inspiration and can make an unusual gift for yourself, or for a friend or loved one – all that is needed is the name of the person it is intended for.
Another passion of Elaine's is Digital Photography and she has a large collection of Wildlife, Flower, Seascape and Sunset images that she uses as inspiration for her paintings.
Scotland is still considered "home" and Elaine visits there every summer to watch the resident dolphins in the Moray Firth. She is delighted that some of her designs are on sale at both the spiritual community known as The Findhorn Foundation and also at the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre on the Moray Firth at Spey Bay, Morayshire.
Elaine’s work “Angel of Enlightenment” was featured on the cover of the Winter 2006 Edition of Pathways Within, a spiritual online magazine and she is the exclusive artist for the UK website for Angelic Reiki Healing.
Collectors in the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and Australia have now bought Elaine’s paintings and her work has been exhibited in Bath, Gloucester and London in the UK and also in Chicago in the USA, with more shows planned for the future.
Commissions are undertaken and you can contact her for details at Elaine@ArtbyElaine.co.uk.
This is a Digital Painting called "Angel of Enlightenment" that was chosen for the cover of the Winter Edition of Pathways Within, a spiritual online magazine.
"Elaine's artwork is deeply inspiring. She has a beautiful eye for light, shape and expression. While looking at her artwork and photos, I found sunsets that could capture anyone's heart. Creature photos that made my heart sing with the loving patience it must have taken to capture each shot. Elaine's Beeswax artwork is truly amazing and one of the most interesting mediums I've seen. Breathtaking views into moments captured in time." Leslie Palacio, Editor of Pathways Within.

**** NEW WORKSHOP DATES ****
**** TUESDAY 21st and WEDNESDAY 22nd OCTOBER 2014 ****
Discover the fascinating medium of Encaustic Wax Art – no artistic experience necessary! Encaustic Art dates back at least 2000 years and was used by the ancient Greeks, Romans and Egyptians. Nowadays we use pigmented, non-toxic beeswax and a small electric iron to create gorgeous, vibrant pictures in no time at all. On Day 1 Elaine will teach you the basic steps and how to create stunning abstract designs, mesmerising rhythmic patterns, simple landscapes and beautiful fantasy pictures. By the end of the day you will have completed several small paintings that can be used in cards or mounted and made into pictures.
On Day 2 of the workshop we shall build on the methods from the previous day and explore more ways to work with wax and improve on techniques. We will learn how to add water effects and will also make use of rubber stamps to easily add details to your images. As well as using the iron to create abstract, landscape and fantasy images, we will be using the stylus tool, a heated pen that allows finer detail to be added and we can try out further fabulous effects using a small hotplate. We shall experiment with using wax on different surfaces and will also be printing wax paintings onto fabric.
This is a fun workshop also known as “Extreme Ironing” in which to play and allow your imagination to soar! You will take lots of small paintings home with you at the end of the course ready to mount and frame and amaze your friends and family. Places are limited to just 10 people to allow for individual tuition so book early to secure your place.
Please wear old clothes or bring an apron as the melted wax can drip and will not wash out. All equipment will be provided and there will be a materials charge of £12 per day payable to the tutor each day.
Please contact me if you require any further details. Elaine@ArtbyElaine.co.uk
